Citroen along with internal brand DS produces cars in all basic segments: from the smallest segment A, to the F and also on M (minivans, cargo vans, passenger vans). It does not produce in the S segment (the sports segment nor in the supersport) and it also does not produce an SUV.
Citroen has a tradition in passenger cars especially in the aforementioned segments. It is a huge competitor amongst other companies with big history. The biggest Citroen competitor is a brand within the same group that Citroen belongs: Peugeot. Peugeot produces cars in equivalent segments as Citroen does. Nevertheless Citroen offers lower prices but with different design. This does not apply to the DS series where those cars are considered executive and cannot be compared with Peugeot. For example the DS3 is a B segment car which is based on the second generation of the C3 and it is distinguished for its exterior and interior design. It aims for the market with rivals such as the BMW Mini, the Alfa Romeo Mito, the Audi A1 and the Opel Adam. Generally the DS series is directed to the same market as Alfa Romeo, Toyota, Mazda, Honda and Opel cars. The rest of the Citroen cars which is the C series are directed partly to the aforementioned list but also to cars such as FIAT, Lancia, SEAT, Renault, Toyota, Hyundai, Chevrolet and Kia.
In particular the Citroen C1 can be compared with Ford Ka, Mitsubishi i-MiEV, Smart Fortwo, Toyota Aygo and Fiat 500. The Citroen C4 can be compared with Chevrolet Cruze, Ford Focus, Honda Civic, Mazda3 and Toyota Corolla. The Citroen C3 Picasso can be compared with Ford B-Max, Opel Meriva, Renault Modus and Renault Kangoo. The Citroen C4 Picasso can be compared with VW Touran, Ford C-Max, Renault Scenic, Opel Zafira and Chevrolet Orlando. The Citroen C6 can be compared with Audi A8, BMW 7 Series, Lexus LS and Mercedes S-Class but its cheaper.
Generally Citroen offers equivalent models with many of other famous manufacturers. But its difference is that its cars are usually a bit cheaper but with equal technological elements or even higher. In addition the design is a lot different so eventually Citroen models are directed to special target group.
