The Rolls-Royce SUV will be built at its Goodwood factory, and going to be sold by 2017 at the soonest,it will join the competition of luxury SUV in the next few years.

The CEO of Rolls-Royce Torsten Muller-Otvos decides to put a sport-ute or crossover in its lineup in order to  fulfil the demands of the growing younger billionaires. Many of them are in thirties or even twenties, and have a will to buy a Rolls-Royce which may not be a conventional luxury sedan. And the customers in China will be Rolls-Royce’s main target.

Chinese buyers of Rolls-Royce are younger than their counterparts in Europe and the United States. The average age of a customer in China is 40 to 45 years old while it 60 to 65 elsewhere in the world.Differ from European and American customers whose purpose is  to keep their Rolls-Royce as a collection, more Chinese customers want to be able to drive a Rolls -Royce to travel, to highlight their identity and status.Since China is currently Royce Royce ‘s largest market, so the user needs of customers in China will also affect the SUV project.

Its competitors have already set up similar SUV project.Bentley which is former sister-brand is preparing to launch an SUV, Jaguar unveiled its own concept crossover  C-X17 at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, Maserati is starting production of the Levante and Aston Martin Lagonda concept has revealed in 2009.

And now Rolls-Royce is initiating the new project by making designers draw up sketches as a start in order to determine how can a SUV be added to the brand’s portfolio. A decision is open, Mueller-Oetvoes said.

The Rolls-Royce SUV might be the costliest  such segment on the market if it finally comes out.
